Beckam and son in freeway collision, but escape injury
David Beckham, world famous soccer player and Galaxy midfielder, and his eldest son, Brooklyn, escaped a collision unscathed when their luxury vehicle rear-ended another car that had broken down in a southbound 405 Freeway carpool lane.
The collision occurred just after 9am on Friday, May 7, 2011, as Beckam was driving toward a training session at the Home Depot Center. According to a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, the location of the accident was in Torrance, south of Artesia Boulevard.
The spokesperson described the incident and said that the 40-year-old driver of the stalled vehicle, a man from Los Angeles, was transported to a local hospital and was treated for minor injuries.
She explained that “This collision occurred when his [Beckham's] black Cadillac collided with the rear of a disabled gold Mitsubishi which was stalled in the carpool lane due to mechanical problems,” and that “The driver of the vehicle had a complaint of pain and was taken to hospital. David Beckham was not cited or arrested.”
Though neither Beckham nor his son were injured, they were both “shaken up” from the collision.
